SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WICS/WRSP) — The Illinois General Assembly will kick off their lame duck legislative session on Friday. This marks the first meeting in Springfield in over 200 days.
The Senate is expected to meet at the Capitol, while the House of Representatives will meet at the Bank of Springfield Center. The House met at that location in early 2020 as well.
Both sides said they have a lot to discuss.
The lame duck session will last about five days, with a steadfast end date of Wednesday, Jan. 13, to swear in new members. Ethics reform is on the agenda for House of Representatives, along with the budget deficit and COVID-19 restrictions.
